A blueprint for digital in defence
The Challenge
Sodexo Defence had launched the new ‘pay as you dine’ (PAYD) service, and wanted to drive compliance with other sites to an agreed menu cycle and marketing calendar. To help facilitate this, Sodexo was looking to replace traditional paper tariffs and marketing collateral with a robust, easily managed digital solution.
Merville Barracks in Colchester was chosen as a pilot site to pioneer this digital push.
The Solution
The Colchester site uses 3 Portrait entrance screens to display the opening times and showcase daily promotional offers, whilst the other 13 screens are used to display menu content above the counter in the diners.
The onscreen menu display is split with the left hand side showcasing imagery of the dish items and seasonal marketing/promotional offers, whilst the right hand side displays the menu specific to that counter, day of the week and time of day. DMC’s installation team worked in tandem with Sodexo’s on-site contractor and project management team to ensure screens were installed and connected to the network in a timely manner.
Through the extensive content management service provided, DMC ensure that the correct menu items and pricing are displayed. Using Signagelive, a cloud based digital signage software solution, DMC controls and deploys the content remotely following installation, saving significant time for Sodexo to focus on delivering their own core services.
Digital Messaging Company have been a pleasure to deal with throughout the mobilisation of our new restaurant facility in Colchester. The screens had been checked and were up and running prior to the launch date with all content managed quickly and efficiently. Any issues with content or last minute changes were dealt with very professionally and resolved quickly with minimal fuss.
DMC ensured that there were clear lines of communication, even going so far as to have a team member on site for the first days to ensure that the screens were working both technically and displaying the correct messaging at the right times. The screens and menu content look fantastic, adding to the look and feel of the new restaurant, and we look forward to rolling out further screens with Digital Messaging Company at other sites.
